Manual Handling

'Manual handling' refers to any activity requiring the exertion of force to lift, lower, push, pull, carry, move, hold or restrain anything. This course focuses on the importance and relevance of protecting your back and teaches the correct techniques to lift, push, pull and carry objects safely.

Staff who perform manual handling tasks should undertake this course.

The course covers the following aspects:

  • Legislation and code of Practice relating to Manual Handling
  • The Body and Manual Handling
  • Risk Assessment and Risk Control (how to identify hazards)
  • Communication and Manual Handling
